Taken Whilst Driving

Living at the beginnings of the Rocky Mountains -- as I do -- leads to fantastic cloud formations. Even though I snapped a streetlight the image came out crisp. Not my best shot, but not as bad as some of the others recently acquired.

I'd love to be ingenuous enough to construct a mount to better acquire pictures, but I also feel that part of the charm about these sceneries is their roughness and imperfection. Trying to take the best picture possible from a moving vehicle is what this blog is all about; refining that skill is something to which I aspire. I do not think I'll ever be famous for a shot from here, but I certainly would have no qualms if I did.

Fog and Snow

A few weeks back, it snowed big wet flakes with vehemence. By the morning the ground was coated despite the warm weather of the weeks prior. I took a number of pictures that morning, but only a few turned out really well. This is a shame: All of the trees were coated with poofy snow and some were marvelous to behold.

As I passed my old entrance onto the Parkway that morning, there was a dense fog. Foggy sunrises make for some wonderful pictures, as I hope to show you in the future.

I take a lot of pictures whilst driving.

I often see a sight and I say to myself: "If I had a better camera and more time on my commute, I would stop right now and capture this moment more pefectly." I don't and I don't, though, so I get by with the point-and-shoot that got me through the Outback.

This is an unsafe practice. I'm sure I could get a ticket in my home state and others were I spotted swerving slightly as I try to capture the perfect scene doing 65 through a car window with a camera who tends to turn on out of focus. "I'm sorry officer", I'm sure it would start: "I just don't have the time to stop and be safer about it. You must forgive me." I doubt that would go over too well.

The above picture was taken whilst in a car as a passenger on the way to Kansas. The wind farm is almost haunting with the giant blades gingerly rotating in the wind. I like this one.

I have taken a number of scenic pictures whilst driving and this is the place I think I am going to post the ones I like.
